Thirteen years later in 1945, King Abdul Aziz ibn Saud met with President Franklin Roosevelt inside a US Navy ship in the Suez Canal; that meeting marked the beginning of the Saudi-American friendship, and since that time, the United States has become the number one oil importer from Saudi Arabia. In 2002, the United States purchased 17% of its oil needs from the Kingdom...
