ANAC ILLINOIS ENDORSES THE NAME REFERENCE
"NIGERIAN INTERNATIONAL COMMUNITY" INSTEAD OF "NIGERIAN DIASPORA". Dr. Abdulateef Kareem ANAC Illnois chairman.
The Executives and members of the ANAC Illinois unanimously endorsed the adoption of the name Nigeria international community. In a special meeting held on sunday November 12th 2006 which was convened purposely to consider various decisions reached by the Board of Trustees and stakeholder of ANAC national, the
illinois chapter intensely deliberated on those issues and concluded in affirmative with the national body. In a motion moved by the ANAC assistant Chairman Mallam Mahmud Mustapha and seconded by Dr Afiz Taiwo MD, Nigerians abroad will henceforth be refered to as Nigerian International community with the word
Diaspora done with and henceforth dropped from our Lingo.
Other issues debated include the ANAC/ New Nigeria Foundation Manifesto. The house unanimously agreed to the suggestion of Hon Chima Mba and seconded by Ms! Kate Osadebey to table the debate till next meeting scheduled for sunday November 19 2006 at 6.00pm central time. this is to allow members more time to review, digest and understand the document in order to deliberate from an enlightened position.
The Chairman of Anac Illinois and Secretary General of ANAC National Hon Abdulateef Kareem MD MPH further reported the house various ANAC activities in the last year including the two congressional sessions in Maryland and Atlanta, March and August respectively,
The NHIS Health Insurance seminar in December/ January in largo MD, the ANAC participation in Nigeria Diaspora Technological Summit in Abuja in July/August 2006.The New jersey Hosting of INEC chairman Prof Maurice IWU including the congressional award for the professor which ANAC given by Congresswoman Barbara Lee of California through ANAC.
