New York, NY (September 27, 2006) The French-American Foundation announced today in New York the formation of its Policy Advisory Council jointly with its sister foundation the French-American Foundation France in Paris. The Policy Advisory Council will serve as a committee of experts from both sides of the Atlantic and a forum for dialogue on crucial French and American issues.
Professor Stanley Hoffmann of Harvard University has accepted the position of Honorary Chairman of the Council and Professor Simon Serfaty of the Center for Strategic and International Studies in Washington will act as Chairman. Vice-Chairmen of the Council will be Nicholas Dungan, President of the French-American Foundation, and Michel Garcin, Président du Directoire of the French-American Foundation France.
Nicholas Dungan said: “In its 30th anniversary year, the French-American Foundation seeks not only to continue strengthening French-American relations but also to foster an active dialogue between the two countries at policy and leadership levels. By enlisting the support of leading academics, policy experts and other prominent thinkers, the Policy Advisory Council will ultimately contribute to policy work in favor of the French-American relationship, and trans-Atlantic issues in general. We are delighted at the exceptional intellectual distinction of this group.”
The Policy Advisory Council will serve as the French-American Foundation’s primary intellectual resource to orient programs and priorities based on issues it identifies as relevant and fundamental to the French-American relationship.
